Family Affair: Nickelodeon Slime Cup Run 2016

I grew up with Nickelodeon as one of my favorite channels as a child. I remember watching Spongebob, Fairly Odd Parents, Hey Arnold, Kenan and Kel, and Figure it Out every afternoon right after school. One of my all time favorites was Figure it out, where the players get slime for every wrong answer. The slime was totally cool when I was a little girl, and I’ve always wanted to get slimed and feel all gooey after. Haha!
Just when I thought getting slimed was a farfetched dream, I got invited to run for the Nickelodeon Slime Cup Run last May 29. Okay, yeah you got me, it was actually Enzo who got invited and not me. Haha! But I am his mother, so technically I was invited haha! But anyway, enough about me and more about our family’s first fun run ever with Nickelodeon Slime Cup Run 2016.

Enzo and I got to run in the 200m dash. It was really short and it was exciting for me especially because the little boy is a huge ball of energy. I knew he would enjoy it. We came early about six in the morning and enjoyed the fun games and treats Nickelodeon had in store for every runner. Enzo played a shooting game in Skechers booth, played Donut Toss and won a Spongebob pencil case, played a boat game and a target game too. We all enjoyed it and we finished the booths just in time for the 200m dash.

Getting ready, there was a warm up dance that made everyone pumped up to run. The little boy was a little cranky already having to wake up a little earlier than usual, the heat, and his eagerness to run. So as soon as the dash started, he ran his feet with glee and finished the race. It was a proud moment for me and hubby. He did not hold unto our hands and just went ahead and ran like everybody else. It was a success for him and although he was a bit sleepy already I knew he enjoyed the run. After finishing the race, we went into the slime shower and got slimed all over. I had FUN FUN FUN, but the little boy was not as excited as I was with the slime. Haha! Funny how I wanted to get slimed more but the little boy was crying already. Haha! It was a fun experience, and I could not wait to join Enzo again in another race. Maybe try another 200m or maybe a 1k soon. But this time, I think we need to prepare him more so he can endure the run.

Thank you, Nickelodeon Slime Cup Run fo Enzo’s first Fun Run!:)

You might be asking, how Enzo was able to do it?
Well, aside from the fact that he has a full energy bar most of the time, we also prepared him for about three days since we knew we were going. Prepping means talking to him what he is about to do, how fun it is going to be, and assuring him we’ll be with him every step of the race. It might be a 200m dash but running it for a two year old can be a new experience and we made sure he’ll remember and enjoy it. Luckily, we think he enjoyed it as much as we did and it helped that he had Kuya Gab, and Kuya Rio with him in the run. Having other friends with him and seeing all other kids also made the run more exciting for him. Plus Spongebob and Patrick in the flesh were good motivators too!
If you’re planning to join your kids to any fun run, prep them so they’ll have a wonderful experience and they’ll be wanting to do it again. So, yey for healthy and fit lifestyle, right? We’ll surely update you on our next family fun run and share with you our prep techniques too!
